Hi Fledgling!
Meet my friend, Rebecca Spiegel. After the death of her sister to suicide, she began writing about her grief on a personal blog. A few years and a lot of work later, those posts became her first book. Find out more about the inspiring process that resulted in, Without Her, a chronicle of love and grief. In our conversation here she generously shares how to navigate writing about the most intimate parts of your family’s lives with both sensitivity and boldness, how her writing process made its way into her narrative, and how social media can play a role in the research of a contemporary memoir.
Rebecca Spiegel teaches reading in Camden and writing in Philadelphia, where she lives with her family. She holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Without Her is her first book.
