What is Lunch Break?
Lunch Break - Wednesdays on Zoom, 1-2 pm EST
Don’t know when to write? Fledgling’s weekly writing hour is a midweek opportunity to turn your creative faucet on and exercise your writer’s mind.
In this weekly focused hour, we vow to close our other tabs, listen to an inspiration text, and write creatively for 45 minutes either to the day’s prompt or toward a project of our choosing. You can volunteer to share or not. Keep your camera on for added accountability or not. It’s that simple!
How is Lunch Break different than other writers’ hours?
“Writers’ hours” or “write-ins” are not a new concept, but one I love. Much like lap hours at your local pool or open hours at a pottery studio offer a consistent time and space for the swimmer or potter to exercise their craft, writers’ hours assign you a time to write and provide you with the support of a community with shared goals to write with.
Many writers’ hours are offered in the morning when I tend to do my best work and am not as in need of support. I wanted to offer a time (for myself and) for my Fledglings to come together and beat the post-lunch slump with something to look forward to. As prompts are Fledgling’s bread and butter, you can expect a prompt to be offered in each session, so if you’re not sure what to write, no worries!
